Last Week Dr.Cheng visited our class and gave us a better insight on the way User Experience is used and how it is used to help gather information for apps, websites and other various tasks. We looked ZipCar's website and did a mock test and I think that was very helpful to see how that works in real life simulation. I looked back at my website and wondered if there was something that I was doing wrong. I use Wix and my biggest thing is trying to have as much on the first page so the user will not get lost and will enjoy coming to my website and enjoy the simpleness. The biggest thing that would help me is the Card Sorting Method Dr.told us about. Since I made a blog I decided to make a tab for blog instead of putting it under "Updates". That way my future users can just click on the "Blog" tab instead of getting confused and searching under another tab. Eventually I will need more tabs for my projects and the may drawings I plan on posting. For the ones I can not post on my homepage, I will try the card method to see where they belong. I have asked different friends of mine how did they enjoy my sight after Dr. Cheng opened my eyes to the different types of experiences. As of now people say it is fairly easy to navigate. I have a big picture with my name and my job under it to capture your attention. I also have my tabs on the right and I noticed Zip Car had theirs on the left, I find that very interesting and I feel like my eyes naturally go to the right. That will definitely be my next test, especially since Mac users have the task bar on the left unlike Windows that have their three on the right. I think my personas will find my website easy to use, all three will. My next goal is to make it look interesting, but not the website itself but the work to speak for itself. I want to add more photos and videos and I will start to add pictures to my blogs as time goes on to bring in more life to my website and make it feel more "at home".
